The EnergyBus standard is created by the EnergyBus e.V. - http://www.energybus.org
A new EnergyBus Booklet (3/2013) gives an overview about the latest EnergyBus standard as well as the listed EnergyBus members. Questions about common service on electric bikes are answered.
Partners are the CAN in Automation e.V. - http://www.can-cia.org and the emtas GmbH - http://www.emtas.de
The standard is composed in two parts. One part is the standardization of hardware, e.g. connectors and the second part is the communication part.
The communication is based on CANopen and is realized as CANopen application profile CiA 454. The communication protocol and the profile are both supported by software and tools by emtas
Background
The EnergyBus standardization was started to create an interface between the components of the pedelecs. One of the main goals is to create an interface between the pedelec and the public charger stations. The current situation is, that there are public charger stations, but you require your own charger. But charger with a high charge current are weighty.
But now, the standard is very flexible, also the EnergyBus standard is creating for devices, like caravan, or self-sufficient systems.
